Miss SA Finalist Chidimma Adetshina’s Video Celebrating With Her Nigerian Family Causes An Uproar. Chidimma Adetshina is the only trending Miss South Africa finalist. This is because of her Nigerian roots. Many feel she is nit eligible to compete in the beauty pageant, let alone become Miss SA.
The Cape Town-based model apparently has Nigerian and Mozambican roots. Her biography on the Miss SA website, however, says she is a model from Soweto. Because of this, many have called for the Top 13 contestant to be removed, since she is not South African. The model and beauty queen has the most attention, now that trolls are all over her.
A couple of days back, a petition was made online, where citizens were asked to sign. The main aim of the petition is for Chidimma to withdraw from Miss SA competition. To make matters worse for her, there is video circulating on social media showing Chidimma celebrating with her Nigerian family. They are congratulating her, on her journey, and this has brought the spotlight back on her.
Upon seeing the video, Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture, Gayton McKenzie commented, saying: “It’s giving funny vibes.” He also stated that he is looking into the matter, and will give feedback in due time. Mackenzie further added that, we can’t have Nigerians competing in Miss SA pageant. Another politician Herman Mashaba said Chidimma is compromising herself by associating with characters who are probably here illegally.
