Makhadzi Bags A Gig With Miss SA As Crown Chasers Guest Judge
Makhadzi Bags A Gig With Miss SA As Crown Chasers Guest Judge. We definitely love this for Makhadzi. Who would have thought that someone who used to sing at taxi ranks, will today be a judge for the biggest beauty pageant in the country!
The multi-award winning musician has really worked hard for her brand. Her career started at the age of 13, where she used to perform at Taxi ranks, getting money from people’s offerings. In 2010, Makhadzi joined a musical group Makhirikhiri as a dancer. Shortly after she left dancing, she began working on her music career.
It was not an easy ride for Makhadzi. She signed a record deal with Rita Dee Entertainment and released Muhwalo Uya Ndemela in 2015. Although Makhadzi garnered local attention after her single “Tshanda Vhuya”, she was not making money. The record label did not do right by her, and she decided to leave them and try other means. Also despite her talent and popularity, major award shows continued to not include her in nominees list.
That is all in the past now. Makhadzi is making a substantial living with her music. She is also bagging awards both at home and internationally. This Sunday, she walked away with the “Best New International Act” award at the BET Awards.
Moving all the way to the top, Makhadzi has just been announced as a guest judge for the second episode of the ongoing Crown Chasers series. She gets to have a say, in the decision making involving selecting our Miss South Africa 2014.
“We’re thrilled to announce that the talented and award-winning artist @makhadzisa will be our guest judge for Episode 2 of @official_crown_chasers 👑,” Miss SA organizers announced.
They also congratulated Makhadzi on winning the “Best New International Act” award at the BET Awards last night.
