DJ Sbu Releases A Statement Regarding Miss SA 2024 and MoFaya Sponsorship

DJ Sbu Releases A Statement Regarding Miss SA 2024 and MoFaya Sponsorship. A year ago, MoFaya was announced as one of Miss South Africa sponsorships. The beverage was the first proudly black-owned energy drink in South Africa, co-founded by DJ Sbu (Sibusiso Leope) and Siphiwe Likhuleni Shongwe back in 2013.

This amazing partnership, saw the reigning queen Natasha Joubert launch the Miss South Africa energy drink. After she and her second Princess Nande Mabala won the challenge, while they were still competing for Miss SA, Natasha made the promise that she wants to take it further. She then went on to create her own energy drink, simply called, Berry Queen.

MoFaya is back again this year as a sponsor, and just like in 2023, the ladies are doing some fun challenges. Maybe just like Natasha, the winners will create their own flavor.

This year though, it is a bit challenging for the beverage brand. Since they works closely with Miss SA, a number of South Africans want MoFaya to be boycotted. They feel it supports and organization that sees no problem with having Adetshina Chidemma as a contestant. Adetshina has Nigerian roots, and her being a finalist caused an uproar.

Dj Sbu, however, is not moved by all the chaos happening around. He recently took to YouTube, where her addressed the issue. The celebrated media personality, musician and entrepreneur stated that Adetshina met all the Miss SA entry requirements. Using himself as an example, DJ Sbu shared that some well known people in the country, have at least one parent who is not South African. He revealed that his grandfather is not a South African.

He went on to urge people to pour their energy into bettering their lives, as opposed to always bashing others.
