Lungelo Tyson Mathonsi Introduces His New Acting Role. Congratulations are in order for Lungelo Tyson Mathonsi, who is shinning with a new role. The talented actor and musician is part of the Emzini cast members, where he plays Bandile Nkosi.

Other cast members include Dumisani Mbebe, who plays Khangelani, a ruthless politician. There is also Khabonina Qubeka, Muzi Mthabela, Wiseman Mncube, Manqoba Khumalo and Nozi Langa as Mmaphefo.

Set against the backdrop of a thriving township lifestyle economy, Emzini explores what happens when the pursuit of legacy comes at the expense of truth. At the centre of the story is Emzini, a well-known and highly profitable lounge that represents more than just business success. It is a symbol of status, influence, and generational ambition. Emzini premiers on Monday, 13 April 2026 at 21:00 replacing Smoke & Mirrors.
In the past, Lungelo has made appearances on shows like Grown Woman and DiepCity. In 2024, he joined the cast of Mzansi Wethu’s Sibongile & The Dlaminis, as Jabu Mazibuko. Jabu was Sibongile’s employer and romantic interest. In August of the same year, Lungelo got a role in Muvhango, as Sakhile Ramabulana, the prodigal son of Dr Ximba and Avhatakali Ramabulana.
Lungelo then bagged a role in a Netflix film, Umjolo The Gone Girl. The film tells the story of a couple whose seemingly perfect relationship falters when one of them learns about the other’s infidelity. The star studded film’s cast includes Sibongiseni Shezi, Gugu Gumede and Ntando Mncube.
