Thembekile Mrototo Celebrates A Decade As A News Anchor. News anchors have a way of just being loved by listeners and viewers. One of those is Thembekile Mrototo, who definitely has this heartwarming aura about him.
Mrototo began his career on Bloemfontein-based community radio station, Motheo FM, when he was just 19 years-old. Many have come to know the seasoned presenter for his 947 Breakfast Club show. Before that, Mrototo was a familiar voice on Gauteng talk radio station 702, where he presented late night and overnight news bulletins for almost two years before sister-station 947 came calling.
The multi-talented broadcaster then stamped his mark in the industry when he anchored News Grid, the 4 PM-5 PM weekday slot on 24-hour news channel eNCA. Mrototo has also made appearances on popular telenovelas The River on 1Magic in 2018 and Legacy. which launched on Mnet in 2020.
In 2021, he left eNCA to be part of Newzroom Afrika, which took to the airwaves on the 2nd of May 2019. He left the channel earlier this yer for more opportunities. Mrototo is currently doing his thing one The Big Debate, which airs on SABC3.
As he clocks 10 years in the game, Mrototo is more than grateful for the opportunities, and the amazing colleagues he has had along the way.
