Mpumi Mlambo Bags Her Dream TV Hosting Gig. Getting a gig in this industry is great, but if it’s something that aligns with your passion, it is more that massive. This is why Mpumi Mlambo is more than happy with her latest hosting gig.
Mpumi has made a name for herself as a media personality, DJ, MC, and Voice Over artist. Having been with major radio stations, there has always been that one gig she hoped for. All that Mpumi wants is to give youngsters the platform to showcase their music talent.
A new SABC1 show, Ushuni Womhlaba, has finally presented the opportunity. Mpumi will co-host the show together with another talent, Mandla Magwaza.
“For years, I’ve been on the radio searching for young talent creating incredible music, yet lacking a platform. While I’ve explored almost every genre, Maskandi, Mbaqanga, and Scathamiya remained untouched. Now, with immense joy, I announce that I’ll continue this mission on @Official_SABC1
on a show called @ushuniwomhlaba . This opportunity fills me with excitement and deep gratitude.
Sukuma @Njinjiwami , Sekunjalo!!!! #UshuniWomhlaba,” Mpumi gushed.
Ushuni Womhlaba will air every Sundays, on SABC1 at 18h00 – 19h00 from 7 July 2024.

Mpumi first started out doing Wits University’s Voice of Wits radio station for two years. She then won an award as the host of the show, and has never looked back. After she completed tertiary studies at Wits, Mpumi struggled to get a job in the radio space. She then decided to take the bull by the horns by submitting her demos to 5FM and YFM. However, she got no reply.
Mpumi then tried her luck at PowerFM and fortunately they gave her the “yes” she had been longing to hear. At the radio station, she was producing content for the daytime show and my weekend show. She ended up being with PowerFM for seven years. Mpumi then bagged a gig at METRO FM, which is now her current radio home.
