South African Artists Nominated at the 2024 BET Awards. When it comes to international awards South African talent always holds its own. The likes of Tyla, Thuso Mbedu, Trevor Noah and Zakes Bantwini have represented us well internationally.
On Thursday BET announced BET Awards 2024 nominees, and it’s all excitement on social media. In the past years South African artists have done very well at the BETs, with Black Coffee, Sjava and Sho Madjozi emerging as winners. This year, we have a solid representation again, as Tyla, Tyla ICU, Makhadzi and Focalistic have been nominated. These artists are some of the best we have in the country, and they have been doing very well.
Tyla
Tyla is the African artist with the most nominations at this year’ BETs with four nods. The Grammy award winning musician is up for Best International Act, Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, Best New Artist and Viewer’s Choice Award.
Makhadzi
Makhadzi no doubt deserves the nomination. She started making waves in her hometown, then took on the country, as well as Africa. The award winning artist is now a global star. It’s heartwarming that she has finally bagged an international award nomination with the 2024 BET Awards. Makhadzi is nominated in the “Viewer’s Choice: Best New International Act” category.
Tyler ICU
Tyler ICU is nominated in the category “Viewer’s Choice – Best New International Act” at the 2024 BET Awards. This follows his Best African Act nomination at the 2023 MTV Europe Music Awards amid the success of Mnike.
Focalistic
Focalistic is up for Best International Act. The award-winning rapper is the only South African nominated in the slot which also includes Asake, Ayra Starr and others.
