Floyd Shivambu Graduates With Masters Degree. It is always inspiring to see leaders level up their academics. With that being said, congratulations are in order for Floyd Shivambu.
The member of parliament and Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) deputy president has just bagged himself a Masters Degree. Shivambu received an MSc in International Development degree by the University of London’s School of Oriental and African Studies.
Among those who congratulated him is EFF Commissar and member of Parliament, Mbuyiseni Ndlozi. He applauded Shivambu for continuing to inspire them in making education fashionable. For his part, Shivambu takes the achievement as an honor.
“It’s an honour to join an illustrious Alumni notably Walter Rodney, a revolutionary Pan Africanist from Guyana and Arkebe Okubay, Africa’s most cogent Proponent of industrialization. The journey was worth it and expanded our understanding of What is to be Done!
And of course had to go via Highgate Cemetery to visit Karl Marx’s grave,” Shivambu said.
Shivambu has always been big on education. After High School, he enrolled at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg. Initially he intended to study to become a technician. Shivambu then changed and earned a bachelor’s degree as well as an honours Degree in Political Studies and International Relations. He then went on to graduate with a master’s degree, with distinction, in political studies in 2014. In his third year at the University of the Witwatersrand, Shivambu was elected president of the university’s Student Representative Body and joined the African National Congress Youth League.
In 2018, he got accepted by the Wits School of Governance. This was for a doctoral degree with his thesis focused on SA’s transformation policies, legislation and practices: ownership and control of JSE-listed companies.
