Social Media Reacts to Dr Sello Maake KaNcube’s Honorary Doctorate. It is a norm for well known personalities to be conferred with honorary doctorates. This is normally for their contribution to the arts or a particular field. One can think of the likes of Dr John Kani, Dr Esther Mahlangu, Dr Jerry Mofokeng, Dr Thembi Mtshali-Jones, Dr Noxolo Grootboom, Dr David Kale and so many others.
Sello Maake kaNcube, recently joined the list, when he was conferred with an honorary doctorate from the Trinity International Bible University. The university also conferred, multi-award winning Gospel singer, Winnie Mashaba and actress Elizabeth Serunye with honorary doctorates.
Sadly for the trio and many others, the Higher Education Department says the Trinity International Bible University, is not a registered institution. Minister Blade Nzimande says the university is not registered and therefore has no authority to offer any qualifications. The same institution conferred Shauwn Mkhize with a doctorate degree in Philosophy for her good deeds in 2021.
Responding to the negativity surrounding his recent milestone, Maake kaNcube appreciate those celebrating him, and dismissed the trolls.
The veteran actor is now the subject of online jokes and trolls.
