Tol A$$ Mo Pens A Heartfelt Apology to Those He Hurt While He Was Going Through the Most. The past couple of years were not really great for him. Among other things, Tol A$$ Mo was accused of rape, separated with his wife Mome Mahlangu, and had a fall out with a lot of people.
Most of his problems started back in June 2020, when Lerato Moloi took to social media to speak about her own traumatic experiences of sexual harassment. The model and actress named Tol A$$ Mo as the perpetrator, who sexually assaulted her on set when they were working on a television production in Paarl, Western Cape. In 2022, Tol A$$ Mo was acquitted of the charges.
The award winning comedian, TV personality and reality show star went on to filed charges of defamation of character to Lerato. He also added civil charges with regards to total legal costs incurred and comprehensive loss of income due to the accusations.
After the whole case, he started doing interviews, and two of the most significant ones being on Podcast and Chill and WAW What A Weekend podcasts. On WAW, he revealed that he and Mome were headed for divorce. During the interview, Tol A$$ Mo also mentioned he was traumatised by black women. This got him in a hot soup with the general public, who called him out on his behaviour.
Tol A$$ Mo has since reconnected with Mome and their at their happiest. He has just released a statement on Instagram, apologising for the man he was then. He also said his mental health challenges peaked when he was “falsely” accused of rape.
“It is with great regret that I acknowledge the hurtful and confusing statements made during this period, including my alleged disparagement of black women. I want to make it unequivocally clear that such comments do not reflect my beliefs or values. The person who made those statements was not the person I recognise as myself, but rather a manifestation of the illness and the disorienting circumstances I was in,” he said.
He appealed for understanding and, forgiveness. “I recognise my behaviour, influenced as it was by my mental health struggles and trauma, caused significant distress and disappointment. For this, I am truly sorry. My commitment is to healing and to making amends to those I have wronged. I am dedicated to regaining the trust and respect of my community, acknowledging this will require time and demonstrated change on my part.”
