Wiseman Zither Bags A Lead Role In Upcoming Showmax Film. There is another local film to look forward to. Showmax is bringing us Musangwe, a bare-knuckle boxing film.
The storyline centres around Musangwe’ Takalani Masevhe, who wants to become a champion boxer but keeps trying to shortcut the process. While visiting his ailing grandmother in Venda, he discovers Musangwe, a bare-knuckle boxing competition. Can he take the title, and the love of Lufuno, from Matome, the reigning champ? This lead role is played by actor and model Wiseman Zither.
The cast also includes Tiisetso Thoka, AMAA nominee Millicent Makhado, Phophi Mudau, Mulisa Mudau, Elsie Rasalanavho and Khathu Litshani. Produced by The Milton Empire, Musangwe is the debut feature film from Lufuno Nekhabambe, who was part of the SAFTA-winning directing team on Gomora and was also nominated twice for his work on Isithembiso.
The Showmax original film will have its world premiere at the Joburg Film Fest, taking place from the 27th February to the 3rd of March. This is ahead of its Shomax release billed for the 22nd of March 2024 .
