KONKA Soweto Shuts Down. The joint is known for its expensive bottle service, celebrity attendance and A-list DJs. KONKA, which is established by young South African businessman Kutlwano Pitso in Soweto established itself as Johannesburg’s hottest place to be seen.
KONKA took the place of the old Icon Soweto nightclub, and went on to become one of the most loved clubs in the country. The club is known to host the rich and famous, influencers, socialites, politicians and anybody with a little bit extra to spend! The likes of Black Coffee, DBN Gogo, Cassper Nyovest and DJ Maphorisa, have graced KONKA. Many more artists and DJs have all been seen entertaining masses on the KONKA stage. The reality of the matter is, even good things come to an end.
In June 2023, KONKA announced on social media that it was closing it’s doors, temporarily. They stated the reason as being renovations. KONKA was getting, a massive makeover, hence the temporary closing. The club closed on the 26th June and opened in September 2023.
KONKA, has just made another closing announcement, and this time its for good. The season finale will run from the 18th February to May 2024. The brand though promises to continue with lifestyle events in different locations across South Africa. Patrons have been assured that a new home is in the works.
