Team Leader Wanted at Community Media Trust
Community Media Trust seeks to employ a team leader based in the Amathole District, Eastern Cape. The candidate will supervise and support 21 coaches and nine Hast counsellors working in Amathole district in the Eastern Cape. The position is based in Butterworth, Eastern Cape.
Coaches are people who are openly living with HIV within their communities, who are on treatment and who have attained viral suppression.
- They are responsible for recruiting other people living with HIV to enroll on the programme.
- Coaches support treatment initiation or re-starting treatment, and provide adherence support.
- They report on all relevant information, using standardised templates and a smart phone app.
Hast counsellors provide HIV testing services to clients accessing public health services as part of the National Dept. of Health’s strategy to reach the 95-95-95 targets.
- Hast counsellors also report all relevant information, using standardised templates and through and online app.
- They work as part of a team consisting of a nurse clinician, social auxiliary worker and coaches.
Role:
- The team leader position is to provide mentorship, support and supervision to the coaches and Hast counsellors to ensure the effective implementation of the Community Component of TB HIV Care’s Care and Treatment programme.
- The team leader will report to a Project Manager, based in Mthatha.
- Team leaders will be expected to work closely with selected clinics and community networks as well as TB HIV Care staff. This is a community-based position and you need to be willing to be in the field, visiting coaches in facilities and communities for 90% of your time.
Required:
- Grade 12 (post matric qualification advantageous).
- Minimum of three years’ experience in leading direct implementation teams working in the HIV prevention field in a target driven programme
- Must be based in the Eastern Cape and reside in/or be willing to relocate to Butterworth
- HIV / AIDS knowledge
- Experience in direct project implementation, planning, logistical support and basic data collection/completeness checks is important
- Minimum of three years’ experience in supporting the HIV care and treatment programme at facility and community level
- Well established community/stakeholder relationship-building track record
- Ability to network and navigate communities
- Experience of mentoring, managing and / or supervising community health workers
- Problem solving skills and ability to think on your feet
- Excellent communications skills in English and isiXhosa, including the ability to guide implementers on implementation
- Ability to work well in a team environment, person-centred, possess leadership skills and qualities and be proactive
- Ability to manage data, paperwork requirements and use an Online App
- Capacity to work in the field, supervising nine Hast counsellors and 21 coaches who support selected health facilities in the Amathole district and willingness to travel to all these facilities
- Valid driver’s licence with driving experience (non-negotiable requirement)
- Ability to problem solve and escalate challenges where necessary to manager
- Ability to prioritise workload to meet deadlines
- Flexible and helpful attitude required at all times
Salary: R17,000 per month
