Check Out These 10 Options If You Didn’t Do Well In Your Matric

Check Out These 10 Options If You Didn’t Do Well In Your Matric. If you are disappointed with your results or have failed matric there are options available.

1. Remark

You may apply for re-marking or re-checking of examination answer scripts immediately after receiving their results. Application forms for re-marking or re-checking of examination answer scripts are available from schools, examination centres where you sat for the examination or at the nearest district office.

2. Take Supplementary examinations

If qualify for a supplementary examination, register at the centres where you sat for the examination immediately after receiving their results. This is if you have not met the minimum promotion and certification requirements, but require a maximum of two subjects to obtain the National Senior Certificate. This also applies to candidates who could not sit or finish the examination due to medical reasons, a death in the immediate family or some other special reason, provided documentary evidence is submitted.

 3. Repeat

Where the gap between what you want to do and how well you did is so big that the doors are all closed, repeating the year is an option. There are things to take into consideration though. The second thing is to understand that if you are going to repeat the year, you must know exactly what you need to achieve.

4. Think About Where and How You Are Going to Repeat

Depending on your age and school policy, you could return to the school you have just left; or you could enroll full or part time in a school focused on either matric or the last few years of schooling. Alternatively, you could enroll as a distance learner and study alone, with a tutor or online. Or you could consider a combination.

5. Consider Another Higher Education Institution

If you did not do well enough to be accepted for your chosen studies at your preferred institution, then carefully examine all the other options out there. These should include both private and public institutions.

6. Consider A Different Course or Part-time Study

While it may be too late to register at a public institution, private institutions often continue to accept enrolments if they have space left, and they generally offer a range of exciting degree, diploma and certificate courses.

7. Go for Vocational Training

Another option available to you is to consider vocational training. TVET colleges allow students who have not passed Matric to receive a vocational or occupational qualification. What this means is that you will receive education and training towards a specific range of jobs or employment possibilities.

8. Get A Job

Getting a job with no matric isn’t easy, but it helps if you focus on entry-level positions with on-the-job training. Draw on your local resources, approach small businesses in your area to ask if any have vacancies, and don’t be scared to network among your personal and family connections. Tell them you’re looking for work, highlight your skills and the types of jobs you can handle, and let them know that you’re eager to start working and learning valuable skills.

9. Start a Business

If you can’t find a job or you don’t feel passionate about the jobs you can get, you might decide to run your own business as a solo entrepreneur. If you can offer a service or make and sell a product, or even create audio-visual content, you can choose independent self-employment. Social media and shopping apps have opened up a wealth of sales and marketing channels online that will help you build your customer base. If you create online content, you can monetize it on your own YouTube channel, although this takes time, dedication and learning what your audience wants.

10. Be Positive

The first thing you need to do is change your attitude. You need to put yourself and your future first. The decisions you make now will affect the rest of your life.  Messing about until you’re almost 30 will make it a lot harder or even impossible to try and make a good life for yourself.
