“How I Got Infected With HIV,” Zombo’s Ex Lebogang Motsumi Speaks Out. She has been sharing her story for years now. When it comes to activism, no information is enough. The story of Lebogang Motsumi, although sad, has to be shared constantly to sensitize others out there.
The author, international, speaker, MC, facilitator as well as HIV and Teen coach, has been living with the HIV virus for years after she was infected by a popular singer. Lebogang broke the internet when she revealed her status to the world. After fighting her own battles within and wrestling with her thoughts Lebogang decided to come clean and share her story.
Back in the day as a fun-loving but naive 17-year-old, Lebogang went clubbing, and she caught late Kwaito star, Zombo’s attention. Although she noticed he lost weight, all she imagined was the headlines: “Lebo Motsumi Pregnant With Zombo’s Child.” This is all because she was young and desperate for fame. They met up after communicating o the phone, and had unprotected sex. This led to Lebogang getting infected, and pregnant.
Zombo then denied the pregnancy after being told. Lebo then attempted to abort her unborn baby in her 3rd trimester. This led her to having a premature baby who later passed on. Lebogang is pretty sure she got the virus from Zombo, because after the burial of their son, she slept with him. After missing in action, Zombo appeared on LIVE TV show, with Arthur Mafokate, where he revealed his status. He also mentioned that he slept around to infect others. Before the show aired, he reached out to Lebogang to watch it.

I eventually fell pregnant, and I was so excited. I called to inform him, and he denied the pregnancy. After some time at 6/7 months, I decided to have an abortion at a back street clinic. Went on with my life. #BeyondSilence #letstalk
