Julius Malema On Who He Believes Is The Rightful Zulu King

Julius Malema On Who He Believes Is The Rightful Zulu King. On the 12th of March 2021, the nation woke up to the sad news of Zulu King Goodwill Zwelithini. The devastating news was shared by IFP founder and traditional prime minister to the Zulu monarch, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi.

Prior to his passing, King Zwelithini had been in hospital where his health recently took a turn for the worst. He was receiving medical care for high glucose levels. The news came just four months after his eldest son Prince Lethukuthula Zulu whom he had with Queen Sibongile MaDlamini passed away. A double blow to the family.

In the midst of it all, may wondered who was going to take over as the King of the Zulu people. MisuZulu kaZwelithini was thus appointed the King, something that did not sit well with some of his family members as well as some members of the public. There have been several court and out-of-court dramas and intrigues involving members of the deeply divided Zulu royal family.

Despite all of this, preparation to officially crown MisuZulu as the King on Saturday are underway. The much anticipated event is expected to be attended by thousands of people, including kings, traditional and political leaders, members of royal families from all over Africa and other parts of the world, diplomats, warriors, maidens and members of the public.

However, brothers of the late King Goodwill Zwelithini, have distanced themselves from the upcoming coronation, saying that the royal house wants Prince Buzabazi kaZwelithini to ascend the throne. Buzabazi’s mother is the late king’s fourth wife, Queen Buhle KaMathe. They claim the process followed to ordain MisuZulu was irregular and did not receive the blessing from the royal house.

MisuZulu on the other hand has the support of many prominent people including, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi. EFF leader, Julius Malema has also come forth to show his support for MisuZulu. He recognizes him as the only King, and dismisses others as noises of scavengers and hyenas.

Iyodwa vo INkosi esiyaziyo, ISilo uMisuzulu KaZwelithini. He’s our only king; the rest is noises of scavengers and hyenas. To all ground forces, feel free to attend tomorrow’s event. Wena weNdlovu! Bayede! Bayede! Bayede,” Malema said.
