Simphiwe Ngema Wants the Government Held Accountable for the Loadshedding Crisis

Simphiwe Ngema Wants the Government Held Accountable for the Loadshedding Problem. Of all the problems one can get used to, loadshedding is definitely not on of them. Once the power goes off most things come to an abrupt stop. The constant power cuts have disrupted health facilities, businesses, work, studying, cooking, and running day to day activities.

There was a bit of hope in February this year, when a Minister of Electricity in the Presidency was appointed. The minister would be responsible for energy recovery. To achieve this, the minister will work with the Eskom board and management. Since Kgosientsho Ramokgopa’s appointment, there has not been any improvement. In fact the loadshedding problem has escalated to a point where residents go many hours per day without electricity, some even days.

Simphiwe Ngema has just joined the growing number of celebrities who have spoken publicly against loadshedding. The talented actress and musician feels its high time our Government is held accountable for the crisis. Simphiwe recently visited a salon of a friend, and suddenly the power went off. The business owner had to run up and down soliciting petrol, which also ran out.

Taking to her Instagram, Simphiwe also stated that loadshedding has affected the water supply in Pretoria. This is another crisis on its own. Although there are possible solutions in place, Simphiwe is livid that the government is not using them.

“It is important for us to start having these conversations. We cannot be making plans to work around load shedding as citizens when we are still paying for electricity. What is our government doing to solve this electricity crisis? It’s time for the government to step up and address the issues of the country,” she said.
