Beginning of the year, another celebrity won a defamation case. Bonang Matheba was smiling all the way from court after Rea Gopane was found guilty of defaming her. Rea was ordered by the court to pay the celebrated media personality and entrepreneur 300k.

Rea, shocked many back in May 2021, after boldly saying on his podcast that Bonang introduced her ex boyfriend AKA to drugs. The podcast host said this after AKA’s fiance’s Nelli passed away. There was a rumor going around, regarding her death, where people kept saying the death was related to substance abuse. The rumor also continued to say Bonang was the one who introduced AKA to those substances.

“We know AKA, let’s not hide from the truth. Scoop told us that AKA is on cocaine and Bonang is the one that got him onto cocaine,” he said.

Bonang’s lawyers made contact with him and he was asked to retract his statement. He didn’t do so, and he was served with a letter, where he was told to apologize in all his social media platforms. Rea was also asked to pay Bonang R500k within 10 days.

Social media made him arrogant, and he kept on poking Bonang in his podcast. Sadly for him reality happened, and he got sued. How far though is he with the payments? Answering one tweep, Bonang revealed that Rea is paying monthly to times indefinite. She also shared that Rea’s arrogance worked on her favor.
