Netflix Drops Trailer of Their Upcoming Young Adult Series Miseducation. It’s all excitement as the streamer drops the trailer of their upcoming show, Miseducation. The young adult series is launching on September 15.
The story follows Mbali Hadebe, played by Buntu Petse, who finds herself on the cancelled list after the police raids her house and seize her family’s assets. This is all because of her mother, Brenda Hadebe’s (Baby Cele) corrupt political dealings. Embarrassed and with her tail between her legs, Mbali runs to Grahamstown University in Makhanda, where she strives to reinvent herself and escape her mother’s corrupt legacy.
Speaking about the series, executive producer Rethabile Ramaphekela said, “We’re excited for South Africa and the world to see our latest comedy-drama that we’ve cooked up with Netflix. This time around, a teen comedy about varsity life. The thing about varsity is, anything goes. And where anything goes, chaos is not far behind… We are grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with Netflix in telling uniquely South African stories that we can take to the world. Miseducation promises to be an offbeat and fun comedy-drama series with a diverse bunch of colourful characters who are just trying to get through this thing called life.”
Other cast members include Lunga Shabalala, Prev Reddy, Mpho Sebeng, Micaela Tucker, Mandisa Nduna, Camilla Waldman, Nicole Bessick, Ebenhaezer Dibakwane, Sechaba Ramphele, Luyanda Zwane and Mamarumo Marokane.
Miseducation is produced by Burnt Onion Productions. Katleho Ramaphakela, Rethabile Ramaphakela, and Tshepo Ramaphakela serve as executive producers. The series is directed by Catharine Cooke, Themba Mfebe, Lwazi Mvuzi, and Rea Rangaka.
