Melissa Nayimuli on the Advise Zozibini Tunzi Gave Her When She Broke Down During Crown Chasers. Once you put yourself out there in these platforms, just know that it’s not going to ab an easy ride. A lot of ladies who have competed in Miss South Africa know the challenges very well.

Miss South Africa Top 5 finalist, Melissa Nayimuli recently shared her fair share of challenges in a touching interview. The model and TV & Film Creative Producer opened up about some of the push backs she received on her Miss SA 2023 journey. Nayimuli was born to an Ugandan father and Xhosa mother, and it went without saying that she was going to be a xenophobia victim.

She recalls when the Top 30 were announced, and she had to deal with naysayers on social media. Some people labeled her a rape apologist, citing that most rapists are foreign nationals. One person even went as far as saying Melissa is fine with the crime that is going on in SA. The angry tweeps were also swearing at her family. This got to her, and as they were filming for Crown Chasers segment, Melissa broke down.

Thankfully for her, Zozibini Tunzi, came through with the much needed empathy. Although their challenges are different, Zozi assured Melissa that she understands why she was crying. The former Miss Universe added that she understands the feeling of not belonging, or people not wanting you in a stage such as Miss South Africa competition.

Continuing with her great advise, Zozi said Melissa had to unfortunately deal with being a sacrificial lamb. She added that standing up for something doesn’t meant its easy, and doesn’t make one strong. But at the end of the day, Melissa had to do it.

If you wanna cry, go cry, but then come back,” Zozi concluded.
