“Lesson Learned,” Sello Maake kaNcube on His Recent Controversial Zimbabwe Visit
A week back a couple of our celebrities embarked on a trip to Zimbabwe. Pearl Thusi, Sonia Mbele as well as Sello Maake and his wife spent a few days in the neighboring country.
When they posted on their Instagram pages about their visit, it just looked like they each one of them was going on a vacation. On her Instagram page, Pearl shared pictures of herself cruising in the Zambezi River. As for Sello, he shared a picture of himself and his wife, stating that the two took a shot left to the Victoria Falls.
Hell broke loose after a trending picture of Pearl and Sello were seated with Zimbabwean president Emmerson Mnangagwa and some other delegates. Most people in the picture were rocking scarves in Zimbabwean flag colors.
They were part of the True Zimbabwe Journalists (Media) Tour that paid a courtesy call on President Mnangagwa at State House. The trio together with Sello’s wife were snapped having dinner with some of the powers that be at the event. Also present was Mr Ndabaningi Mangwana, the Permanent Secretary of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services.
This did not sit well with many people, more especially Zimababweans. They felt that South African celebrities have been bought, to sell a different picture to what they are experiencing in their own country. Pearl and Sonia defended their visit, but Sello kept it on the down.
Just now the veteran actor has come forth advertising singing auditions organized by his foundation. He also added with humility that he comes in peace.
Most people in the comments section, expressed how disappointed they still are of him. One advised Sello to stop associating with murderers. He asked Sello if he knows about Guhurahundi genocide, where thousands of Zimbabweans were killed.
To which Maake kaNcube responded, “Lesson learned.“
