Kelly Khumalo Removed From Lineup of An Upcoming Tribute to Women Festival
Kelly Khumalo Removed From Lineup of An Upcoming Tribute to Women Festival. For the first time, since the Senzo Meyiwa trial began, it has affected Kelly Khumalo professionally. Kelly, was among the people in the house, when Senzo was shot dead in October 2014.
The latest developments on the case has many believing Kelly knows more than she lets out. It has been revealed in court that Kelly was telephoned twice by one of the suspects accused of killing Senzo. The calling is said to have happened before his death. After the revelation, many people who have been following the case attacked Kelly on social media, saying she knows something.
Kelly has been enjoying a smooth career journey, despite the attacks she constantly gets. It seems as if the pressure is now getting too much now, with Tribute to Women Festival dropping her. The outdoor music event which celebrates the great women of South Africa, have taken off Kelly from their lineup.
On their statement, the organizers state that they have noted, with concern, various comments on social media platforms and calls from many patrons of their festival. They added that they also respect the legal processes and wish to indicate that Kelly is innocent until proven otherwise.
Having noted that though, the team has taken the decision to remove the multi-award winning songstress from the lineup. This is done in the interest of safeguarding their festival. The removal will also afford Kelly and her team the time they require to deal with the issues emanating from the current court proceedings.
The Tribute To Women Concert will be held on Saturday 12 August 2023 at Emmarentia Botanical Gardens, Johannesburg.
Other artists who have been booked for the event include Mafikizolo, Amanda Black, Nkosazana Daughter, S’java and Kanza De Small.
