King Misuzulu KaZwelithini Hospitalized for Suspected Poisoning
King Misuzulu KaZwelithini Hospitalized for Suspected Poisoning. It doesn’t rain but pours in the Zulu royal house. The reigning king, King Misuzulu KaZwelithini is admitted to hospital in Swaziland after feeling ill and suspecting poisoning.
This comes after one of his Indunas, Mr Xaba, who is believed to have been poisoned, died unexpectedly. Mr Xaba, who had been in the King’s company all along. Upon experiencing discomfort, the king became suspicious of having been subjected to poisoning. In light of this concern, His Majesty sought medical attention in eSwatini. King Misuzulu KaZwelithini sought medical attention in Eswatini as he is uncomfortable with seeking treatment in South Africa, Chief Mangosuthu Buthelezi said in a statement.
His Majesty is the eldest son of the late Queen Mantfombi Dlamini Zulu. The Queen was appointed as the interim leader of the Zulu Nation under the title of queen regent, on 24 March 2021, after the death of His Majesty King Goodwill Zwelithini on 12 March 2021. This was in accordance with HM King Zwelithini’s will, and she was set to temporarily serve in this capacity until the next Zulu King was appointed.
On 27 April 2021, the royal family confirmed that Queen Mantfombi Dlamini had been hospitalized. She died two days later on 29 April 2021. The family did not immediately release the details of the cause of death. Her first son, Misuzulu was believed to have been her choice.
However there were ongoing battles amid the issue of succession. A faction within the family has been challenging his claim to the throne. The family members insist that he is not the rightful heir of his late father, King Zwelithini.
