Kgomotso Christopher Addresses Claims That Fatal Seduction Copied An International Series
Fatal Seduction just dropped, and it is forever trending on social media. The star studded series tells a tale of unwavering passion and desire, unraveling in a dark story built around a web of lies and deceit. A married professor gets pulled into a passionate affair with a younger man that uncovers a path of tragedy and betrayal from those closest to her.
Nandi, played by Kgomotoso Christopher, spends a fated weekend away from her husband, Leonard (Thapelo Mokoena). She then meets alluring tempter, Jacob (Prince Grootboom) who ignites her deepest passions, causing her to question the truth about those close to her as past lies and secrets slowly creep to the surface.
Some viewers have noticed that Fatal Seduction, carries a more or less same storyline as international series, Dark Desire. In the erotic thriller series, married Alma spends a fateful weekend away from home that ignites passion, ends in tragedy and leads her to question the truth about those close to her. One took it upon himself to confront Kgomotso about the similarities of both series. He regards it as plagiarism as it looks like one series copied the other.
Setting matters straight, Kgomotso revealed that the creators of Dark Desire wanted a South African interpretation of their series. Hence why Fatal Seduction was created.
“Please check my TL. I’ve explained. Same people who made Dark Desire, felt they wanted a South African adaption given how well Dark Desires did. Technically the people who made Dark Desire can’t plagiarize themselves. It’s a family affair. No pun intended,” Kgomotso said.
Answering another tweep, the award winning actress said, “It’s an SA adaptation of another Netflix show, Dark Desires. Concept is that sometimes they find stories that work in other territories & they localise them & adapt them to various territories. “Unseen” a brilliant Netflix SA hit is an adaptation from Turkey, I believe.“
