The multi-award winning media personality stated that news is about consistency, familiarity and trust, hence sticking to a look is advisable. Anele is against sisters changing wigs ever now and then, as it affects the credibility of what the do.
“Unpopular opinion. Newsreaders on TV really need to stick to a look. News is about consistency, familiarity and trust. Changing wigs everyday shame… Hayi it’s not making sure. In your own time wig it ghel but on the desk…please,” Anele tweeted.
Some agreed with Anele, giving examples of the likes of Leanne Manas, Mam Noxolo Grootboom and Mam Linda Gqomfa wore the same look back in the days. Just like Anele, they reason that changing looks constantly can be distracting.
Today Anele added that in newsrooms they keep black jackets in case there is a major death. “Can’t be mourning a person in yellow coat …. There is thought in everything hence people keep jobs for 30 years on the desk.”
As the debate continues, one legendary female news anchor added her view point. Claire Mawisa, who has been in the industry fro decades. Claire, who is currently a presenter on Carte Blanche, One of SA’s leading news and current affairs show, broadcast on Mnet conquers with Anele. The seasons broadcaster stated that she loves her dress code. On situations where she has to make death announcements, Claire rocks a head wrap.
