Bonang Matheba Reacts to Her Mom’s Uplifting Message to Banyana Banyana. One thing about Bonang Matheba, she is quite patriotic. She has openly shown her support for Banyana Banyana, even advocating for them to get better pays.
The national team, is currently playing in the FIFA Women’s World Cup which is jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand. Although Banyana Banyana, is in a tough group, the team is doing its absolute best. So far the have lost to Sweden 2-1, and went on to draw 2-2 with Argentina. Looking at how the girls have been playing, everyone is expecting better results against Italy.
Banyana Banyana is sponsored by Sasol, a partnership that go as far as 2019. Before departing for the world cup, Sasol Executive VP: HR & Stakeholder Relations Charlotte Mokoena gave them encouraging words. She applauded the girls for their bravery, maturity, discipline and professionalism among other things.
For those who don’t know, Ms Mokoena is Bonang’s mother. It goes without saying that Bonang’s passion for women’s sports comes from mommy dearest. The two women are at the forefront of seeing women getting the same recognition as their male counterparts. After listening to her mom speech to Banyana Banyana, the proud Bonang shared it on Twitter.
The multi-award winning media personality and entrepreneur is also a big fan of the national netball team, the Proteas. The sport is close to Bonang’s heart, and she used to be on the 1st team, back when she was still at Fourways High. As South Africa is currently hosting the netball world cup, Bonang is among the celebrities making some noise about it.
