Youth Employment Service (YES) Opportunities at Eskom Acornhoek

Eskom is offering a unique opportunity for young South Africans to gain practical work experience through the Youth Employment Service (YES) initiative. This programme is part of a public-private initiative led by the Presidency to address youth unemployment. Successful candidates will be given a 12-month contract to work within Eskom Operations, gaining valuable exposure to the electricity, energy, and water supply industry.

Position Overview

The YES initiative targets unemployed youth between the ages of 18 and 34. Candidates will be placed in the Customer Services department within the LIMLANGA Cluster, specifically in Acornhoek, Mpumalanga. This programme is designed to provide hands-on work experience, professional development, and mentorship, allowing participants to build skills and establish a foundation for their future careers.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with daily administrative and customer service tasks in the Customer Services department
• Communicate professionally with clients, addressing inquiries and providing accurate information
• Support operational processes and departmental projects
• Follow Eskom policies and procedures to maintain compliance and operational efficiency
• Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and a customer-focused approach in all tasks

Requirements and Eligibility

• South African citizenship
• Aged between 18 and 34
• Grade 12 certificate with Maths or Maths Literacy
• Proficiency in English and at least one other South African official language
• Must not have been employed permanently for more than one year with a single employer
• Not currently studying full-time during the year of employment
• Must not have previously participated in the YES initiative
