Check Out How SA Personalities Rocked the 2023 BET Awards Red Carpet. Sunday night was one of the biggest in the international entertainment calendar. The much anticipated Black Entertainment Awards (BET) took place in Los Angeles, USA.

Our very own talented musicians also bagged BET nominations, making the event even more interesting for the country. Award winning rapper and entrepreneur K.O and internationally acclaimed DJ Uncle Waffles, were among those who represented Africa at this year’s BET awards. The local duo battled it out in the Best New International Act category. Other artists in the category were Aya Nakamura (France), Ayra Starr (Nigeria), Burna Boy (Nigeria), Central Cee (UK), Ella Mai (UK), L7nnon (Brazil), Stormzy (UK) and Tiakola (France).

The award was won by Nigerian artist, Burna Boy. The multi-talented musician became the first artist in history to win the BET Awards “Best International Artist” category 4 different times.

Pabi Cooper, was nominated for the Viewer’s Choice: Best New International Act Award. The category recognizes emerging artists from around the world. However, the award went to Nigerian artist, Tems.

Despite not bringing it home, the local music trailblazers impressed with their nominations. All of the three have had an amazing year, releasing hits and performing on international stages.

The Bet Awards 2023 were held on Sunday, June 25, in Los Angeles, celebrating the best in Black entertainment across music, television, film and sports.
