Statement! Thuli Phongolo and DJ Maphorisa Choose to Resolve Their Issue Privately. As always, our celebrities are teaching us to drink water and mind our businesses when it comes to their relationships. The latest to do so are DJ Maphorisa and Thuli Phongolo. Just a week ago, the rumored couple trended on social media platforms and made headlines on the mainstream media after it was alleged that they had a fight. According to reports Thuli reported the incident to the police and Maphorisa was then arrested, and detained in a police cell. This allegedly happened after Maphorisa assaulted Thuli at her apartment in Sandton, Johannesburg.

According to Thuli’s statement, the altercation began when she confronted Maphorisa about their previous night’s argument during his booked gig. Things then escalated with Maphorisa allegedly slapping and punching her repeatedly on the chest. As the issue made it to social media, Thuli was applauded to reporting immediately to the police as opposed to taking matters to social media as some do. Maphorisa was released the next day on a R4000 bail, and Thuli shocked many when she dropped the charges thereafter. More shocking developments on the issue have emerged. The duo have released a joint statement on the matter, and how they wish the public and media to handle the issue going forward.Thuli and Maphorisa started off by admitting that the issue has caused them both great emotional distress. Because of this, they wish to handle things privately with their respective management and legal teams. The statement also confirmed that indeed Thuli has dropped the charges she laid against Maphorisa. Further more, Thuli and Maphorisa are unhappy about what they regard as defamatory remarks on the issue, and will therefore take legal action against such. Other than that, they wish to return to their respective jobs, without the issue affecting them in any way.
