Nandi Madida Takes Us Back to When She Was Into Beauty Pageants and Weaves. We have come to know her as a lady of colorful short hair. Nandi Madida has shown a lot of us that there actually is versatility when it comes to wearing our hair short.
Back in the day though, the award winning musician, TV personality and entrepreneur used to rock them weaves and protective hairstyles. She recently shared a throw back picture of herself, when she won the beaut pageant of her high school. Nandi looked all sorts of pretty in a long straight weave, she definitely deserved to be crowned the queen.
“Throwback to 2005! Ha ha! I just received old photos from my mother. This was me from my high school pageant that I won😂💕..I remember by then I was properly over school as I was working on kids TV (which I felt was my calling.. entertainment that is) and had what I now have been diagnosed with as ADHD,” she captioned the picture.
Nandi also added that she had a weave on, which was called bonding back in the day. Just like many ladies, she also used to rock long hairstyles. Nandi then decided to embrace the short natural look because she did so much whilst on TV, and she eventually got over weaves. Another influence came from reading a bit about Steve Biko, as well as observing her sister my sister and my mother, who are team natural.
This is one of the best decision she has ever made, as now young women draw inspiration from her. There is nothing wrong with how a woman chooses to wear their hair, but to know that all the options are acceptable, is heartwarming.
