Gabriel Temudzani Bows Out of Muvhango. He has been with the show for a whole 23 years, playing the beloved role of Chief Azwindinni Gandamipfa Mukwevho. Sadly even great things do come to an end, and that includes Gabriel Temudzani’s iconic character as the chief of Thathe on Muvhango.
The multi-talented Temudzani was born in 1980 and bred in Tshivhilidulu in the Nzhelele area, in Venda. He began his acting career in 1995, and made his screen acting debut in 2000 on the hit SABC2 drama, Muvhango.
The award winning actor, TV host and MC has also acted in the feature film A Diamond and Destiny in 2003. The film was about the discovery of gold and diamond in Kimberly. In 2009, he landed a lead role in the feature film Night Drive. Temudzani has also been on theatre, appearing in the show The Dog and The Night of Horror, for which he won a Vita Award.
As a TV host, Temudzani presents the magazine show La Famila, which also airs on SABC2. The magazine show, explores the notion of family and how it is celebrated in South Africa. It was hosted by Shandukani Nesengani (Seasons 1 and 2) and Temudzani (from Season 3).
Despite his Muvhango character now being killed off, Temudzani will forever be known by many as Chief Azwindini.
In a statement shared by the show, Chief Azwindini will be set aflame in tonight’s episode by Tenda, who is avenging himself to all who put him in jail. The untimely death of the chief will leave the entire family in shock and mourning. There will also be chaos in the royal house as expected. He will be laid to rest later this month, in accordance with the royal family customs.
