1. 32-year-old Luthando ‘BU’ Mthembu was raised in Umlazi, KZN and is the oldest of two kids.

2. Before his big break, BU was already making small strides in the entertainment circle. He was featured in adverts and affiliated himself with famous people like DJ Maphorisa, Reason and Kabza de Small. His first shot at fame was an advert for a car brand which became quite popular.

3. The reality show star, actor and musician gained fame when he joined Big Brother Mzansi Season III as a participant. Although he was evicted earlier than anticipated BU, made a mark on the show.

4. After his exit from the house, BU worked on his musical career. He signed with an independent music distribution company, Electromode Ingrooves Music Group. His musical persona, LuDo BU, is a shortened version of his name. Last year, he dropped a hip-hop single, “The Packager”, featuring Sizwe Alakine (formerly Reason).

5. BU then explored the world of acting, where he has been doing exceptionally well. The rising star was cast on Ayeye: Stripped and Redemption, where he did an outstanding job.

6. In March this year, BU was announced as part of the cast of Adulting, the first Showmax Original from Tshedza Pictures, as toy-boy Vuyani.

7. Initially, he didn’t get the role, it pushed him to go back to the drawing board. He saw an acting coach, and when an opportunity for a second audition came along, he improved.

8. BU is also into healthy eating habits, and he has been a vegan since 2018. One other reason he adopted to this lifestyle, is for his soft spot for animals.

9. Many may not be aware of this, but BU is a divorcee. At 23, he got married to a 21-year-old French beauty against the advice of his elders. The marriage lasted for five years.

10. At the moment, he is not open about his current relationship status. After being evicted from Big Brother, BU said that he was interested in pursuing a relationship with Venus as they had already established a connection in the house. It remain unknown though, if the two went on with a relationship.
