Key Responsibilities
The Dispensary Support role focuses on practical training under the supervision of a pharmacist. Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting with the sale of Schedule 1 medicines and scheduled substances
- Supporting compounding, preparation, and manipulation of non-sterile medicines following approved formulas and SOPs
- Unpacking, merchandising stock, and maintaining dispensary and OTC shelf cleanliness
- Learning to accurately interpret prescriptions while adhering to SAPC legal requirements
- Picking, packing, labelling, and ensuring medications are checked and signed by a pharmacist
- Managing stock control, including cleanliness, expiry dates, and organization of Schedule 1 to Schedule 5 medicines
- Following up with patients on prescription tracking and appointments
- Assisting with call centre scripts, patient service calls, and scheme authorizations for chronic, HIV/AIDS, and oncology medication
- Reporting low stock levels and stock errors to the dispensary manager
- Receiving dispensary stock according to company SOPs
Qualifications and Requirements
To qualify for this role, candidates must have:
- Grade 12 / Senior Certificate with at least 50% in Pure Mathematics, Life Science, or Physical Science, and an overall average of 50%
- Completion of a proficiency test enabling application for registration with SAPC as a learner basic assistant
- South African citizenship with a clear criminal and credit record
