Robert Marawa Joins A New Radio Station. Congratulations are in order for Robert Marawa who has just revealed his latest radio gig. If you follow his career, you probably know him as a man who doors keep on opening for him, immediately after losing jobs.
In 2019, Marawa was laid off by sports channel, Supersport. What shocked many is the manner in which the legendary media personality was fired. He was sent a text message a few hours before going live. Marawa was told not to bother coming to work.
Two years later, another broadcaster showed him the door. In July 2021, Marawa was fired as an anchor on Metro FM and Radio 2000. SABC issued a statement, but they did not reveal the reason behind their dismissal.
Other jobs came through though for Marawa. In November 2021, he partnered with Arena Holdings to broadcast his award-winning sports show, Marawa Sport Worldwide live on SowetanLIVE website, Vuma FM in KwaZulu-Natal and Rise FM in Mpumalanga. MSW is streams live every Monday to Friday in these three platforms simultaneously.
He is now back with another major radio job. Marawa is set to host his highly acclaimed sports show, Marawa Sports Worldwide, live from Primedia’s 947 studios on weekdays at 6pm from Wednesday, 1 February.
“A new chapter. A new challenge. An honour to join a beast of a radio station in @947 From Wednesday #MSW will embark on a historic journey on four unique platforms… @947 @VumaFM @RISEfm943 & @SowetanLIVE Let’s do Radio,” Marawa said.
According to 947 station manager Ravi Naidoo, Marawa’s new show will expand 947’s offering, appealing to more listeners.
“Listeners can look forward to sixty minutes filled to the brim with the very latest sports news, exclusive exposés, and interviews, with real-time updates and insights,” Naidoo said.
