Twitter Weighs In On A Botswana National Receiving Death Sentence in Bangladesh Over Drug Trafficking
Twitter Weighs In On A Botswana National Receiving Death Sentence in Bangladesh Over Drug Trafficking. Trending on social media today is one Lesedi Molapisi, a Botswana national, who was caught in Bangladesh trafficking drugs.
The 30-year old woman was arrested at Hazrat Shahjalal International with over 3 kilograms of heroin earlier this year. Molapisi arrived at the airport on a Qatar Airways flight from South Africa via Doha. During initial interrogation with the airport’s customs officials, in association with National Security Intelligence (NSI), she denied having anything beyond declaration or any drugs in the luggage she was carrying.
However, as the luggage got scanned, powdery and granular substance was found inside her trolley bag. The officials then opened the luggage and found eight polybags inside carrying 3.145kg heroin. Molapisi was promptly arrested. According to reports, she has been tried, found guilty, and sentenced to death.
Bangladesh has strict anti-drug laws, which prescribe the death penalty for anyone caught illegally cultivating, producing, transporting, exporting, or importing heroin, cocaine, and cocaine derivatives drugs in excess of 25 grams or milliliters.
Sine the news is trending all over Africa, South African Twitter has also jumped in to weigh in on the matter. Some people feel sorry for Molapisi, stating that she could have been a mule being used by some powerful individuals. Others however, state that she should face the full wrath of the law. They want this to be a lesson to anyone who is trying to get some quick buck doing illegal activities.
Check out the different opinions on the matter below;
If Bangladesh execute Lesedi Molapisi today for smuggling drugs.
We must retaliate and send a strong message.
How many Bangladeshis break our laws at airports and sell us fake goods? Africans must learn to fight for themselves.— Shark Razor (@SharkRayza) November 25, 2022

Lesedi Molapisi broke the law.
End of story.
I suspect that if SA adopted execution as punishment for similar crimes we’d have less problems and less people in Sunnyside and Hillbrow.
But that’s just me and my thoughts

Botswana kills citizens of other African countries for committing crime so Lesedi Molapisi is not facing a new thing in Bangladesh. We feel sorry for a sister but its her life choices which led to this final destination. We will meet on the other side. pic.twitter.com/K4avbW2wPo

Shame. Lesedi Molapisi won’t have an episode of Banged Up Abroad. She won’t live to tell the tale.
A lesson to future moles.
