Scandal! Bids Farewell to Nomvelo Makhanya In a Beautiful Tribute. It’s never easy to see a talented star leave a show, for whatever reason. Sadly life has to go on, and people also have to grow, so change is very much needed in the industry.
Over the past year, Scandal! has let go of quite a number of their lead actors. One can think of the likes of Kgomotso Christopher (Yvonne Langa) Hungani Ndlovu (Romeo Medupe), Masasa Mbangeni (Thembeka Shezi) Brighton Ngema (Quinton Nyathi), Sivenathi Mabuya (Xolile Langa), Lusanda Mbane (Boniswa Langa), among others. It is always sad to see such talent, but the good thing is that they were replaced by other great actors, and fans got to enjoy a different storyline.
Another talented actor who has been with the e.tv soapie for years has just left. Nomvelo Makhanya, who is best known for playing Lindiwe Ngema had her last scene on Scandal! this past Thursday. South Africa basically watched Nomvelo grow on the show, from a naughty high school student, to a married career woman about to grow her family.
Her character Lindiwe recently became pregnant, and she and her husband Nhlamulo were over the moon. She then started feeling ill, only to find out she had a chronic Illness. As her condition worsened, she was forced into a choice between the survival of her baby or having an abortion to ensure her own survival. Sadly Lindiwe kept the pregnancy, and died a few days after giving birth.
