Samkelo Ndlovu Makes A Come Back to the Small Screen. Although we are all for opening up the industry, it is always exciting to see talent return to entertain us once more. One person we are excited for their comeback is certainly Samkelo Ndlovu.
In February 2020, the talented actress and musician announced her departure from Rhythm City. Samkelo played Lerato Tselapedi, a character she held down for seven years. She parted ways with the e.tv drama amicably, and everyone looked forward to her next venture. Towards the end of 2020, Samkelo announced that she was venturing into music. She has since released a few projects, which have been received well by the masses.
The good news for her fans out there is that she is back to her first love, which is acting. Samkelo has joined the talented cast of Reyka, which is returning for second season. The mystery crime thriller, will see South African-born actress Kim Engelbrecht and acclaimed British actor Iain Glen return to their roles. Reyka will premiere on M-Net in late 2023 with production kicking off in early January next year.
The first season received an incredible reception when it launched last year, not just in South Africa, but around the world. Reyka won four accolades at the 2022 South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs) and was also nominated for Best Drama at the 50th International Emmy Awards – with Engelbrecht nominated in the Best Actress category. According to Quizzical Pictures Creative Director and Reyka producer Harriet Gavshon, Season II promises to be even more compelling than season 1.
Kim Engelbrecht, Iain Glen, Nokuthula Ledwaba, Anna-Mart van der Merwe, and Gerald Steyn, will be returning for the new season. New cast members include Samkelo and the immensely talented Lemohang Tsipa.
