Professor Mamokgethi Phakeng Extends a Sweet Gesture to Students Busy With Exams.Hate her or love her, one thing about Professor Mamokgethi Phakeng, she is big on education. She always doe everything she can to make sure that learners achieve their goals.

At her work place, the award wining professor has been dubbed the institution’s ‘Fab Academic’. Her bubbly and dynamic, yet hard-working approach to higher education in an unapologetically African way has made her a game-changer in the field.

Back in August, she came forth to help him a young Maths Genius Sibahle Zwane advance his studies at the University of Capetown. The UCT Vice Chancellor took to Twitter where she pledged to pay for Sbahle for him to study further at the university.

During lockdown, graduation ceremonies were suspended, but Phakeng made sure some students don’t miss out on the experience. She took it upon herself to surprise one student who was graduating with a BCom. Professor Phakeng, organized for the student to have a memorable day, by going to his place, and became a part of his graduation. How fashionable can education get!

Now that exams are ongoing, she is doing the most by motivating those studying hard to get good marks. She hit the library around 10 at night, and upon her arrival distributed some chocolates to  the learners she found studying there.

“We’re right at the end exams, so I went to the library at 10pm last night and found my students grinding hard, so I gave them @BarOne_SA chocolates to eat when they take a break. I didn’t expect to find so many students in the library on a Sunday night, so I ran out of chocs,” Professor Phakeng
