Pearl Shongwe’s Former Colleagues Pay Touching Tributes to the Late Media Personality. A day ago, we lost one of the most talented media personalities in the country. SABC news reader and TV personality Pearl Shongwe was found dead inside her Waterfall apartment, on Tuesday.

She was apparently found lying on her bed face down, and no injuries were found. Although details are still sketchy, it appears that she might have died of natural causes. The news of her passing has shocked the public, as Pearl was doing well a few days prior to her passing.

Pearl is still trending on social media, more so because she was really great at her job. She was a news anchor on Metro FMโ€™s Touch Drive, which is headlined by renowned radio personality Tbo Touch. She was also a sports host on the SABCโ€™s Sports Live at weekends. The Soweto born talent was also a presenter on SABC1 educational youth talk show, Daily Thetha. Shea also found herself in the anchoring chair, behind the mic and some big stages where she led ceremonies as an MC, programme director and facilitator.

Pearlโ€™s management company, Owen S Management, described her as a television presenter, newsreader, voice artist and facilitator who had always dreamed of a career in broadcasting. She was also hailed for her passion in the industry having started auditioning for TV commercials at the age of 12.

Over the years, Pearl worked with some of the best names in the industry. Her former colleagues, including those she worked with at the time of her passing have been sharing touching tributes on social media. Mo Flava, Tbo Touch, DJ Fresh, Owen Hannie, Melanie Bala, Melody Mia among others found the courage to speak about their late colleague.
