Musician Nonhle Beryl Shares Her Grandmother’s Kidnapping and Robbery Ordeal
Musician Nonhle Beryl Shares Her Grandmother’s Kidnapping and Robbery Ordeal. South Africa is a crime scene! No one is safe nowadays, irrespective of age, gender, ethnicity or status. Criminals target anyone without any mercy.
In March this year, 87-year-old Dr Esther Mahlangu, became a victim, as she was attacked at her home by a brutal criminal. An unknown man broke into her house in Siyabuswa near Kwamhlanga. The world-renowned painter was robbed of her personal firearm as well as an undisclosed amount of cash. Sadly the criminal also assaulted the iconic Dr Mahlangu.
Another grandmother recently became a statistic. Her story has been shared by her famous granddaughter Nonhle Beryl. According to the musician who is based in Germany, her granny was kidnapped at a shopping centre in broad daylight. After robbing her of over R200k, she was abandoned somewhere in Durban in the middle of the night. She suspects the incident could be an arranged inside job from the bank.
This has left a bitter taste on Beryl’s mouth, more so since she always speaks about the level of crime in South Africa. She moved abroad 14 years ago and renounced her South African citizenship four years ago to become German. Beryl is happy with her choices and always encourages others, more especially women to relocate abroad.
“I just found out that a few days ago my grandmother was kidnapped from a shopping center, in broad daylight, and robbed of over R200,000.00. They took her from the south coast of KZN and left her somewhere in Durban in the middle of the night,” Beryl said.
