10 Interesting Facts You May Not Have Known About the Late DJ Sumbody. South Africa is once again mourning another talented star. DJ Sumebody became a victim of gun violence on Sunday morning as he was driving from a gig. He died together with one of his bodyguards.

1 DJ Sumbody’s birth name is Oupa John Sefoka. He was born and raised in Pretoria.

2. He started off transporting commuters on morning taxi routes to enable him to raise funds to purchase vinyls in high school. He drove his father’s taxis.

3. After his matriculation, DJ Sumbody enrolled for a degree at the Tshwane University of Technology. His love for music was stronger than that of his academics. In year 2, he quit his educational career to focus full-time in the music industry.

4. To show that one has to start somewhere in the industry, DJ Sumbody began as a volunteer producer and presenter. He was the brain behind the show Mashaedi on the Engage which was broadcast on Tshwane.

5. In 2018, the celebrated Deejay dropped the song titled Monate Mpolaye. The hit song took the South African music industry by storm, and instantly made him a household name.

6. After that DJ Sumbody dropped many music tracks to his name, making waves both in the local and international scene. He is well known for hits like Suk’emabhozeni, Ayepyep, Ngwana Daddy and Ashi Nthwela among ,many others.

7. In his work, he has worked with many music heavyweights like Cassper Nyovest, Thebe Mogane, Busiswa, Zakes Bantwini, Kwesta, Zakes Bantwini, DJ Tira, Londie London, Holly Ray and Leehleza

8. Music is not only his only stream of income, he is also into business and runs the Ayepyep Lifestyle. The business is a partnership between him and Kagiso Setsetse.

9. He was also the co-founder of the family transport business Jamoloto & Son Transport. In addition, he owned music production company SumSounds Productions.

10. Sadly the musician and entrepreneur died early on Sunday morning, November 20. He was shot in a hail of bullets on the corner of Woodmead Drive and Woodland Drive in Sandton, just after midnight.
