“I Got Racially Profiled,” Lasizwe on His Sad Experience in Spain
“I Got Racially Profiled,” Lasizwe on His Sad Experience in Spain. Over the past week Lasizwe Dambuza has been living it up in Spain. He took to his social media platforms, with pictures and videos of him having the most fun.
The award winning content creator, reality show star and all round entertainer partied up a storm amid a YouTube creator summit. Lasizwe, who is always mocked for his dance skills, even posted a video where he showed off some of the moves that were a hit in Spain. He said people from different nationalities, were so mind-blown that they asked him to teach it to them his impressive moves.
Sadly, the wonderful that Lasizwe has been having got tainted by a bad experience. He has just revealed that he got racially profiled. According to him the local police stopped him inside the airport, where he was asked for his passport. After that Lasizwe was asked to wear a mask, when almost everyone around him wasn’t wearing one. He was further told that failure to do so, will get him in some serious trouble such as getting arrested, or paying some fine.
The experience left Lasizwe feeling like they targeted me because I was alone, young and black. As much as the country is one of the best to visit, racial and ethnic discrimination in Spain has worsened in the past few years. Blacks and people from ethnic minorities are often treated unfairly by officials.
“So I got racially profiled. The police in Spain stopped me inside the airport and asked for my passport then they told me to wear my mask (bare in mind it’s not mandatory in Spain to wear masks anymore except for when you are in a public transport),” Lasizwe said.
