Earlier this year, the cast and crew spent some time together in an undisclosed location in Cape Town. This was after filming their movie in the Mother City. The local lead star Thuso Mbedu shared pictures of herself with other co-stars such as Viola Davis, Lashana Lynch, John Boyega, Adrienne Warren, Sheila Atim, Jayme Lawson, and Hero Fiennes Tiffin. It was evident that these are more than just colleagues, but are family now.

The amazing crew has just had an interview on The View. and their chemistry was undeniable. The actresses who made the interview are Thuso, Viola, Lashana and Sheila. There was laughter as beautiful stories about the movie were shared. Thuso revealed that it was such a special moment for her when some scenes were shot not only in South Africa, but in her home province. The multi-award winning actress also got Viola to share the incident where rain threatened to disturb the shooting, but people started beating drums and sang, making the rain stop.

Lashan and Sheila also got to share some beautiful experiences they have had both on set and with fans outside. Local personalities such as Miss Universe 2019 Zozibini Tunzi, actress Makgotso M as well as actor and TV personality, Sive Ngesi have made it as part of the star-studded cast.

The Woman King, which was released on the 12th September 2022, follows Nanisca, General of the all-female military unit, and Nawi, an ambitious recruit, who together fought enemies who threatened to destroy everything they’ve lived for.
