Thato Montse Weighs In On Why Other RHOCT Ladies Created Their Own Wine Brand. When it comes to business, competition is good, as it gives customers a variety in terms of which seller or service provider they go for. It also keeps the business person on their toes, and they will always be about the best service at a competitive price.
Sadly, some competition in the business sector is laced with malice. Some entrepreneurs are in business just to spite others or simply prove a point. Many people believe this is exactly what some Real Housewives of Cape Town ladies are about. In the most recent episode, Loveline Abinokhauno, aka Mrs Leo, Camilla McDowell and Beverly Steyn revealed that they have their own wine brand, which is about to be launched.
Well, there is nothing wrong with that, looking at the fact that the wine industry is growing in this country, and more women are need to venture into it. The only problem here is that one of the cast members, Thato Montse, is also pushing the same business. When the show started, Thato was introduced as an entrepreneur and wine connoisseur. She has a wine-making diploma and is a member of the Black Cellar Club, and her Thato Wines, have been picked up by the Spar franchise.
Sadly, some of the Real Housewives of Cape Town ladies have not been supportive. Every time she mentioned her wines, Thato was met with hostility. They have been bringing her down on every aspect including the taste, pricing and packaging of her wine. In the meantime, the ladies were plotting to have release their own wine brand, Housewives Reserve.
This did not sit well with viewers of the show, who feel that the ladies are doing Thato bad. She also took to Instagram to air her grievances over how she has been treated. Thato states that they started their business just to spite and belittle her. She also said the ladies used their privilege to look down on her, since they were born rich.
“The wine industry is predominantly white owned and racist, black peoples we don’t own the value chain, we don’t own the land , cellars and wine farms The wine that started because they wanted to spite me, the reason they got into a wine business was to put me down, using your privilege to be little me and suppress me, creating a wine brand to try to bring me down to degrade me, looking down upon me just because you were born rich , just for the fact that people spend time and money to investigate Thato wines it says much about Thato , the final episode showed us true colours,” she said.
