Sad Note: TKZee Member Tokollo Tshabalala Dies
Sad Note: TKZee Member Tokollo Tshabalala Dies. South Africa has lost yet another star. This Monday morning the country woke up to the devastating news of Tokollo Tshabalala‘s passing.
According to reports, the 45-year-old hit maker’s lifeless body was found by a family member this morning and it is believed that he died during his sleep. His death has been linked to his battle with epilepsy.
Magesh as he was popularly known was born on the 14th October in 1976 in Johannesburg. He was a student at St Stithians College and started his music career as part of the group Mashsmplani before later joining high school friends to form TKZee. He was also a renowned writer responsible for many Kwaito hit songs. Tokollo pursued a solo career later on, doing very well in the entertainment space.
In 1994 his band TKZee released their first full album, Halloween, which became a huge hit with smash singles like We Love This Place. The album was certified platinum by the Recording Industry of SA as it sold over 200 000 copies. It also earned them four awards at the SA Music Awards for Best Kwaito Album, Best Duo/Group, Best Single and Best Kwaito Single.
The group also had a collaboration with the current Manchester United coach, Benni McCarthy, with their chart-topper, Shibobo, dedicated to the 1998 Fifa World Cup. They recently made a comeback this year when they performed at the Cassper Nyovest vs Naak MusiQ celebrity fight. Sadly Magesh passed on before the trio could release new hits.
Messages of condolences have been pouring in from fellow celebs, fans as well as the nation at large. Among those who shared tributes is Orlando Pirates Football Club, more so since Tokollo, is the son of their boss Stanley Tshabalala.
