Professor Mamokgethi Phakeng Addresses the Cancel Culture Directed at Young Creatives #podcastandchillwithmacg
Professor Mamokgethi Phakeng Addresses the Cancel Culture Directed at Young Creatives. A few days ago, she declared herself a ‘Chiller’. This means Professor Mamokgethi Phakeng is among the die hard fans of Podcast and Chill with MacG podcast.
Those who follow Professor Phakeng, know that she is as cool as they come. The 55 year old, has never let age stop her from following trends and being woke. Among her cool activities include being a judge at Miss SA 2021 beauty pageant, taking on the Duduzane Walk Challenge that trended on social media in 2020, as well as surprising some student who graduated during lockdown by rocking up at his home, to make sure they had a memorable graduation.
The Professor recently took to Twitter, where she counted herself among the ‘Chillers’. She also stated how impressed she is by young people, who go out there to make things happen for themselves.
“Yes I’m a chiller! I support young South Africans who make bold moves; they are passionate about their craft, they’re not entitled, they own who they are & go out there to make things happen for themselves. @Solphendukaa & @MacGUnleashed you guys rock!,” she said.
Not so many people were happy with the fact that she was hyping the controversial MacG and his co-host Sol Phenduka. In her defense, Professor Phakeng said no one is born woke and instead of rushing to cancel others, they should be educated.
“We need to address this toxic cancel culture – it is utterly destructive and shatters the aspirations of many young people! You can’t tell me you can cancel another person in good faith; it takes utter depravity to demand the fall of a young person trying to make it out there.1/4“
