SA Celebs React to the Tragic Death of Youngsters At a Tavern Over the Weekend #EnyobeniTavern

SA Celebs React to the Tragic Death of Youngsters At a Tavern Over the Weekend. It has become a norm that every morning we wake up to some devastating breaking news. Over the weekend, in one of the saddest scenarios ever, at least 21 teenagers died in a bizarre way at a tavern.

The victims whose ages range from 13 to 17 years, were found strewn across floors and tables at the Enyobeni Tavern in the town of East London. A detailed list of the victims, as well as the actual cause of death has not yet been produced. Although the venue was parked, most people have ruled out a stampede as the primary cause of death.

Social media users speculate that tear gas was sprayed inside the congested venue, causing panic among those who were inside. Some suspect the kids could have been consumed something that upset their system, but these remain as wild speculations. The bodies of the victims have been taken to mortuaries, where postmortem examinations are being carried out.

In his condolences message, President Cyril Ramaphosa tweeted, “This tragedy is made even more grave by its occurrence during Youth Month – a time during which we… advocate and advance opportunities for improved socio-economic conditions for the youth of our nation.

Some of our public figure also shared their grief, as well as disappointment at the rate of the moral decay in this country. The likes of Mmusi Maimane, Lerato Kganyago, and Thula Sindi are among those who have weighed in on the tragedy.
