SA Celebs React to Black Coffee Being One of the Producers of Drake’s Latest Album. He keeps on making the country and the whole of Africa proud. In the beginning of April this year, Black Coffee made history as he bagged his first Grammy Award for hit album, Subconsciously.
The multi award winning DJ became the first South African producer to win or let alone be nominated in this category. He is also the first African DJ to win the award outshining other nominated stars, Sylvan Esso, Illenium, Major Lazer, Ten City and Marshmello.
Throughout his career Coffee has made real connections with international stars such as Drake. The two come from far both professionally and personally. Five years back Drake’s remix of Black Coffee’s Superman did wonders only few days after it was dropped. It comfortably sat on the 45th spot at Billboard Top 100, which is a huge accomplishment. In 2019, we saw Black Coffee’s bromance continue as they hung out with Drake who attended his Rebel gig in Toronto, Canada.
In a surprise announcement yesterday, Drake revealed his seventh studio album Honestly, Nevermind, just nine months after the release of Certified Lover Boy. There are a number of G.O.A.Ts who have worked with the multi-award winning rapper and Black Coffee happens to be one of them. He is one of the executive producers and writers on this much anticipated project. This is the reason why Black Coffee is at the top of Twitter trends making almost everyone gush over his work ethic.
Our local celebs, such as Sizwe Dhlomo and the Major League DJz have joined the multitudes of people out there who are congratulating Coffee for the achievement. On the other hand we have the likes of Ntsiki Mazwai and NOTA, who are not impressed.
