Pics! Shauwn Mkhize Donates Houses to KZN Flood Victims. In April 2022, severe flooding and landslides caused by heavy rainfall affected the Province of KwaZulu-Natal. Sadly over 400 people lost their lives, and more devastating news is that dozens of people are still missing.
Moreover, thousands of homes have been destroyed, displacing countless residents. A number of our local public figures then stepped in to find ways they could assist those affected by the floods. Billionaire businessman and Confederation of African Football president Patrice Motsepe, pledged R30m to be used to urgently help flood victims. Together with KZN leaders and his wife, Motsepe also visited various communities affected by floods in Durban.
Another globally known personality Charlize Theron also came through for the victims. The South African born Hollywood actress launched a fundraiser in support of flood relief efforts. Through her organization, Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project, she called on to anyone out there to assist, and she set up a fundraiser for such.
Affluent businesswoman an reality show star, Dr Shauwn Mkhize has also stepped in to assist. Together with eThekwini Municipality in Wyebank she handed over three houses to families that were severely affected by the floods in April. Mam’ Mkhize also called on other local businessmen and women to help those who were affected by the floods.
“I spent the morning together with eThekwini Municipality in Wyebank to hand over three houses that we, as Zikhulise and ROYALAM donated to families that were severely affected by the floods in April. 💕
While there is more that needs to be done to rebuild KZN, it is important to highlight the progress and celebrate the small wins,” she said.
