Liesl Laurie-Mthombeni Bids Farewell to Jacaranda FM. After a good seven years with Jacaranda FM as a presenter, Liesl Laurie-Mthombeni is now hanging her earphones.
Liesl is one of the beauty queens who capitalized on their fame to penetrate the entertainment industry. She joined Jacaranda FM in 2016 shortly after completing her reign as Miss South Africa 2015. Liesl started her journey at the award winning radio station doing Sunday evenings 08:00 pm to midnight. She then went on to host her own show, The CTM Top 20 with Liesl Laurie every Saturday, and eventually joined radio master, Martin Bester as part of the breakfast show on weekdays, where she ends her exciting chapter at Jacaranda FM.
As part of the award-winning and much loved ‘Breakfast with Martin Bester’ team, together as a collective, they won the South African Radio Award for Best Breakfast Show on a commercial station in 2021. Liels’s last show is this Thursday, on the 30th of June 2022.
“Saying goodbye is never easy, I’m going to miss the morning family as well as Martin and the JacaBreakfast team, but I’m so thankful for this experience and to have grown in a medium I have so much love and respect for,” said Liesl Laurie.
Another personality leaving the show is veteran broadcaster, Rian van Heerden. After a decade of intriguing conversations, indelible wit, and “take-me-with-a-pinch-of-salt candour”, Jacaranda FM’s Scenic Drive host, Rian, turns on his mic for the last time also on the 30th of June 2022.
